Reflections on the 3-Day Women’s Seekers Retreat: The Power of Setting Time Apart

The just-concluded 2025 Women’s Seekers Retreat, held from July 25–27 at Sandy Lake County, Hairy Hill, was more than an event—it was a sacred pause from the everyday. Women from Edmonton, St. Albert, Devon, Medicine Hat, and Two Hills came together, not just to camp or connect, but to seek God intentionally—and the results were profound.

Over three days, we witnessed what happens when women set time apart for fellowship, interaction, and spiritual renewal. The impact touched every area of our being—spiritually, philosophically, mentally, physiologically, and health-wise.

1. Spiritual Reawakening in Nature

From the very first evening, as we gathered around the campfire and lifted up praise and worship, it was clear God was present. The rustling leaves and gentle winds reminded us of the Scriptures—“the trees of the field will clap their hands” (Isaiah 55:12). Each session—from Terry’s opening encouragement to our Sunday Bible study in Colossians 3—was soaked in the presence of God.

In this space away from distraction, we could hear His voice more clearly, rediscover our joy in Scripture, and experience healing through prayer. The retreat became a sacred reset for many hearts.

2. Philosophical Grounding: Who We Are and Whose We Are

As we discussed topics like “The Fountain of Life,” Faith, Hope, and Marital Challenges, we were invited to reflect on life’s deeper questions:

What is the source we draw from daily?

Are we letting God truly guide our journey?

How do we define ourselves beyond our roles?

Who is the Captain of our ship?

These conversations allowed us to anchor our identity, not in performance or expectations, but in God’s unchanging truth.

3. Emotional and Mental Healing through Sharing

One of the most powerful moments came during the session on Marriage and Overcoming Marital Challenges. In a safe and sacred space, tears were released, stories were shared, and intercessory prayers flowed. Women who carried silent struggles finally found space to unburden—and others stood beside them in faith.

This kind of emotional and mental release is essential. It reminded us: we are not alone, and healing begins when we are seen, heard, and prayed for.

4. Physical Wellness through Rest and Recreation

Between individuals hiking sessions, berry picking, sports activities, and personal reflection time, the body also found time to rest and move in life-giving ways. Simple acts—like sitting under a tree with a journal, walking along the camp path, or chatting over breakfast—allowed our nervous systems to calm, our bodies to unwind, and our minds to reset.

Being outdoors and away from screens or structured demands gave us room to breathe—literally and spiritually.

5. A Break from Routine: Rediscovering Ourselves

Everyday life can be a cycle of giving, tending, and managing. But for three days, we stepped into a different rhythm—one where we could reflect, receive, and be still. This shift allowed many of us to:

Realign spiritually

Hear from God anew

Reflect on personal goals and struggles

Simply be without needing to perform

This retreat reminded us of the importance of pausing, doing something different, and focusing inward in God’s presence.

6. Learning from One Another: A Circle of Wisdom

Every woman brought something unique—her story, her faith, her strength. Whether through group discussions, spontaneous testimonies, or quiet one-on-one moments, wisdom was exchanged.

We learned that we’re stronger together, that community is a gift, and that God often speaks through others just as powerfully as through His Word.

Conclusion: A Life-Giving Experience

The Women’s Seekers Retreat at Sandy Lake was not just a weekend getaway—it was a divine appointment. We returned home refreshed in spirit, healed in heart, nourished in body, conquered the wiles of the enemy, and reconnected in sisterhood.

May we continue to make space in our lives to gather, to seek, and to grow. Because when
