How Comfortable are You?

What a beautiful Sunny Sunday it is today. It’s interesting how the land isn’t blanketed in pure white yet. Who knows how next Sunday will look?

Thanks to Marjorie and George for graciously hosting us as we concluded our Alpha courses. Today’s topic challenged us on our comfort level in sharing our faith. We need not fear judgment or perceptions. If there’s peace, joy, and hope in Christ, why hesitate to share that goodness? If things considered shameful are freely shared, shouldn’t the way of peace and salvation be shared even more?

In Luke 9:26, Jesus said, “For whoever is ashamed of me and my words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed.”

Based on a sincere concern raised by a babe in Christ, we discussed how fearing judgment can hinder our growth, but focusing on sincere pursuit of God and godliness should be the key. Going to church to align with God’s teachings helps us stay on the right path, regardless of others’ opinions or criticisms. It’s about personal growth and connection with God rather than being confined by external judgments. This will give us the freedom to share our faith freely.

Alpha courses offer an inclusive space for learning about Christ and freely discussing Christian faith without fear of judgment. They’re available across Canada, like the recent one at Ellerslie Road Baptist church, with another planned for next year. For those interested, please contact Marjorie at [email protected].

Attending these courses won’t disappoint. Besides making new friends, you’ll be intellectually inspired by the truth of the gospel.
