Finding Hope and Faith in the Waiting: An Encouragement for Aspiring Fathers (& Mothers)

Dear friend,
To every potential, prospective, and faith father who desires to be father, I really want to acknowledge your heartfelt desire to be a father. Certainly, your dream is a beautiful testament to your caring nature and the love you have to give. While the journey to fatherhood can sometimes be filled with challenges and uncertainties, your unwavering hope and perseverance are truly inspiring.
A friend’s comment on my last post made for Father on Father’s Day sent me to bed with a heavy heart and woke up with it still on my mind. I understand that talking about this topic can be triggering, as it’s a journey many have navigated with varied outcomes. Some have spent months, others years, and some are still in the loop, waiting for their time. We’ve been there too. Regardless of the duration or the outcome, every individual deserves to live fully and find joy and fulfillment in who they are.
While we wait for those doors to open, we can still praise God in the hallway. Your faith and patience with ups and downs of life are a testament to your strength and hope. In this waiting period, hold on to your faith and continue to live with hope. Keep believing that joy and fulfillment are within your reach, regardless of the path you take.
Consider the story of Abram and Sarah, who grew past childbearing age, yet God surprised them, proving His perfect timing. In our contemporary times, we’ve seen miracles where wombless women have successfully carried and nursed their babies. Whether one is a natural eunuch or self-made, God’s power is boundless, and He can do anything He deems right.
Paul, with all his dedication to God, lived with a pain he desired to be taken away, but God’s answer was no. This teaches us that sometimes, even in our deepest desires and most fervent prayers, God’s plan is different yet always perfect.
“And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing, I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me. – 1Conrinthian 12:7-9
Beyond what you could imagine, the qualities you possess—your kindness, strength, patience, and nurturing spirit—are already making a positive impact on those around you. Whether you are a supportive friend, a devoted uncle, or a mentor to someone in need, you are already embodying the essence of fatherhood.
Great things often require time and patience, and I believe with all my heart that your moment will come. Until then, hold onto your dreams, continue to grow, and know that you are surrounded by people who believe in you and support you.
Your journey to fatherhood may take different paths, but each step you take brings you closer to realizing your dream. Stay hopeful, stay strong, and never lose sight of the incredible father you are destined to become.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways, submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6
With heart-felt support and admiration,
Your friend
Testimony of David:
PSALM 40:1-3
I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.
